Doris Nickles is a lifelong writer whose love for the written word has woven its way throughout the tapestry of her life. From an early age, Doris discovered solace and expression through all sorts of writing, drawing inspiration from her own experiences and emotions. Her literary journey began with Lighting the Heart: A Healing of the Soul, a collection of poetry, sonnets, and essays. Through this debut work, Doris navigated a series of personal crises with raw honesty and poetic grace, offering readers a glimpse into the depths of her heart. Building on this, Doris released Spiritual Reflections, a profound compilation of lessons gleaned from her spiritual journey. Through introspection and wisdom, in this book she shares the insights acquired while living a life of deep spiritual connection. Fiction is a new venture for Doris, something she began pursuing as a way to cope with depression and loneliness during the COVID-19 pandemic. Detectives Smith and Weston grew out of this period, battling crime in a fictional version of the picturesque city of Winnipeg, Manitoba, where she lives. In addition to writing, Doris is an accomplished nurse, the mother of three children, a certified counselor, and an ordained minister.
