Aditya Mukherjee is former Professor of Contemporary Indian History at Jawaharlal Nehru University. He was Dean of the School of Social Sciences and Director, Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Advanced Study at JNU and President, Indian History Congress, (Modern India), 2007. He has been Visiting Professor at Duke University, US and La Sapienza, University of Rome, Italy, and Fellow at Institutes of Advanced Study at Nantes, France, Lancaster University, UK, University of Sao Paulo, Brazil and University of Tokyo, Japan. He has authored Imperialism, Nationalism and the Making of the Indian Capitalist Class (2002). He has co-authored India's Struggle for Independence (1988); India Since Independence (2008); and RSS, School Texts and The Murder of Mahatma Gandhi: The Hindu Communal Project (2008). He has edited A Centenary History of the Indian National Congress, 1964-1984, Vol. V (2011). He is editor, Sage Series in Modern Indian History, which has so far published eighteen monographs since 2000.
