Haiti is the most montanous country in the Caribbean and has almost all of the bird species endemic to Hispaniola. So Haiti could be an outstanding destination for birders. In 1983 the first two national parks (Visite and Macaya) were established, some more followed after 2014. But the infrastructure of the country suffered from heavy hurricans, devastating earthquakes and other catastrophies. Of course, avitourism would help the country. This book intends to show, which attractions the bird life of Haiti has to offer, and that it is worthwhile to protect their habitats for better times.
