Inspiriert von Saint-Saëns' ikonischem Stück 'Der Schwan' ('Le cygne') aus dem 'Karneval der Tiere'
präsentieren der Cellist Mats Lidström und sein Sohn Leif Kaner-Lidström nicht weniger als 24 'Schwäne'
aus aller Welt und aus allen Epochen. Das Album beinhaltet neue Bearbeitungen und Transkriptionen von
Werken, die das Schwanenthema aufgreifen. Bei den meisten dieser Werke handelt es sich um Erstaufnahmen.
Mit Komponisten wie Fanny Mendelssohn, Orlando Gibbons, Maurice Ravel und Heitor Villa-Lobos bietet
das Album zwei Dutzend musikalische Reflexionen über das unverwechselbare und beliebte Original von
Saint-Saëns.
