Guadalupe Laiz is an international artist, photographer, and explorer. Her passion for wildlife photography was sparked by a profound connection with the indigenous horses of Iceland, which ignited a pursuit of capturing the untamed spirit of animals in her photography. Laiz’ s first book, Horses of Iceland (2019), has been reprinted by The Images Publishing Group, which also published her second book, Among the Living, Where You Belong (2023) showcasing the magnificent wildlife photography taken by Laiz in Kenya, Namibia, Tanzania, Botswana, Rwanda, and Uganda over the course of six years. In her third book, In the Land of Fire and Ice: Horses of Iceland (2025), Laiz widens her lens to not only capture the horses, but to showcase the rugged, harsh, and unpredictable environment that has shaped the character of these animals. She is also photographing polar bears and sled dogs near the North Pole for her next book, The Lonely Wanderer, and producing an accompanying short film in collaboration with Thrainn Kolbeinsson. Laiz’ s evocative imagery serves as a call to action, highlighting the urgent need for conservation efforts. Laiz has partnered with nonprofits involved with environmental issues, animal abuse, and human-animal conflicts in Africa, such as The Dian Fossey Foundation, Save Giraffes Now, and Lewa Wildlife Conservancy, as well as undertaken humanitarian work for 4africa in South Sudan and northern Uganda. Driven by the belief that art and beauty transform how people think about conservation and nature, Guadalupe focuses on the environment and animals that are pure and gentle by their very nature. Her desire is to communicate through art an awareness of animal abuse, environmental issues, and the importance of educating all generations on making conscious lifestyle decisions to protect our planet.
