Ewald Plachutta is among Austria's most acclaimed chefs. The founder of the famous Plachutta "boiled-beef dynasty" was named Austria's "Chef of the Year" in 1991 by the Gault-Millau restaurant guide, is the recipient of A La Carte magazine's Trophée Gourmet and in 1993 was awarded his first Michelin Star. Plachutta is Austria's best known and most successful cookbook author, with his books having sold over a million copies.
Mario Plachutta following years of work and travel in Canada, France and Hong Kong, Mario Plachutta launched his own business in 1993. Following in the footsteps of his father, he opened a series of renowned restaurants in Vienna: Plachutta Wollzeile, Plachutta Nussdorf, Grünspan, Mario and Gasthaus zur Oper. Mario Plachutta has been the recipient of numerous awards, including being named Austria's "Restaurateur of the Year" in 2006.
