Attila Dé zsi, an archaeologist, studied Prehistoric and Historical Archaeology in Hamburg and Vienna. Since 2020, he has been a research associate at the State Office for the Preservation of Monuments at the Regional Council of Stuttgart, where he is involved in the inventory project "KZ-Komplex-Natzweiler: Denkmalfachliche Evaluierung der Auß enlager und Arbeitsstä tten in Baden-Wü rttemberg."
Additionally, he conducts research as a research associate at the University of Tü bingen in the Collaborative Research Center 1070 "RessourcenKulturen" on the German immigrant colony Nueva Germania in 19th century Paraguay. In 2023, he defended his doctoral dissertation on Contemporary Archaeology at sites of protest, which included investigations of the anti-nuclear protest village "Republik Freies Wendland". The dissertation was awarded three academic prizes: Studienpreis der VGH Stiftung fü r Archä ologie 2024, the Deutschen Studienpreis fü r Archä ologie der Deutschen Gesellschaft fü r Ur- und Frü hgeschichte, and the Barbara-Scholkmann-Fö rderpreis fü r Historische Archä ologie.
His research focuses on the democratization of archaeology, methodology and theory of Historical Archaeology, as well as sites of Nazi terror and alternative movements.
