In the early 1990s, twelve-year-old Teddy Stafford experiences a tragedy in his family that no child should have to endure. The death of a parent. Slowly falling into a depression that threatens to take him down a similar path, Teddy must learn to overcome the ghost of his father, while at the same time learning to maneuver against the real threats from the streets of Grand View, California. As Teddy struggles down the path of perdition, a new friend, David Gonzalez, helps him to discover that a person's past can sometimes lead them on a new road toward redemption.
