Of course, committing a crime, it is only right that you are punished. But what of your mental health, no matter the crime? To keep my own demons at bay, I devised a word game: I wrote down words that started with my surname; choosing a word that described my feeling at that time, I wrote a short paragraph. 'The darkness' of my depressive thoughts, with 'Into the light' were how I taught myself to have a more positive attitude; and I realised I had the ability to defeat the depressive demons in my head. I would like this book to encourage all those like me, who have suffered mental health issues, to do likewise. At last, mental health is no longer taboo; they say it is good to talk; that is not always possible. But with pen and paper, with a few words, like me you too can walk back into the dawn of a new day.
