The second edition of the book has several new features including: (i) an entirely new chapter on modeling of multiple jet and plume interaction and coupling between near-field plume model with far field ocean circulation models; (ii) a solution manual to the problems at the end of each Chapter; (iii) set of experimental visualization photos and computer animation; and (iv) a new version of the outfall modeling software VISJET. The authors believe that a simple first-order model with analytical clarity will retain its importance in solving complex engineering problems and aiding the interpretation of black box or data-driven (AI) models. The book will benefit a wide variety of readers: students, researchers, practicing engineers, and environmental regulators. The solution manual and VISJET software – included in response to readers' queries – would be handy for teachers and students.
