This memoir is Karen's first book. It follows the evolving relationship between a mother and daughter during the last eight years of the mother's life. The author developed her memoir mostly through her Wednesday night writing classes. These classes always occurred after a day of helping her mom with pills and bills and sharing their lives. The events of each Wednesday became grist for the writer's mill.
Through back story and family tales the reader will learn about the hardships both mother and daughter endured. There are also moments of joy and hilarity as the mother shows her character which is unique with unexpected thought processes.
Mother and daughter slowly deepen their mutual appreciation of one another as vastly different personalities. Slowly Karen comes to a level of love, not just of her mother, but of the person she now sees more clearly who happens to be her mother.
