Treasure River is the 5th book in the Charlie Palmer series. This book continues to follow the careers of Federal Game Warden Charlie Palmer and his wife, Dr. Miranda Palmer. Charlie and the two young game wardens who have been assigned to assist him in the supervision of the Lower Suwannee National Wildlife Refuge, a huge piece of Florida's vanishing wilderness, find themselves drawn into a life-or-death battle with treasure hunters who have discovered a hidden treasure buried by Spanish sailors who survived their ship being run aground by a hurricane in the mid-1500's. Charlie's wife, Miranda, is drawn into the conflict when it is discovered that her father, a disgraced history professor at the University of Florida, is actually running the illegal operation. He is determined to find the treasure to restore his reputation and is willing to do anything, including murder, to make it happen. The battle rages from Florida to Cuba, to the Marquesas Islands, with both the Spanish Government and a family of the Spanish Mafia claiming the treasure Miranda's father is willing to kill to claim for his own.
