The author grew up in Southern California, and has a lifetime love of sports. Not blessed with an abundance of athletic talent, many obstacles to participation were thrown in his path. He recounts some of the obstacles and the people who helped and encouraged him to stay involved. There are candid and pointed perspectives formed and shared over a lengthy career as teacher and coach, and later a military educator at various installations around the world. The author traces his advancement in the military education career field and his adaptation to various events of the Cold War and Post 9/11 periods. Throughout the book his passion for education and seeing the effect it has in improving people's lives stands out.
