A Multitude of Angels ist ein 4-CD-Set mit Aufnahmen verschiedener Solokonzerte, die Keith Jarrett im Oktober 1996 in Italien gab. Die Veröffentlichung dokumentiert den Abschluss seiner Praxis weit ausgedehnter Soloimprovisationen, die bei Konzerten in Modena, Ferrara, Turin und Genua aufgezeichnet wurden. "Das waren die letzten Konzerte, die ich gespielt habe, ohne Pausen in einem Set zu machen", erläutert Jarrett in seinem Begleittext. Die Ästhetik seiner Musik ist charakteristischerweise weit gespannt: "Jazz ist hier immer präsent, neben meiner tiefen Verbundenheit zur klassischen Musik, modern und alt, Ives und Bach."
