The Persons of Speech is a collection of four separate, adventurous stories whose characters share their names with the part of speech they are illustrating. Nancy Noun in her wedding gown explains what a noun is while telling a beautiful story of her wedding day. Pete Pronoun is quite the clown as he scatters pronouns across the pages, teaching children exactly what a pronoun does in the English language. Vera Verb takes us on adventures from deserts to city suburbs. She explains that verbs show action within our sentence structure as she paints lovely pictures in our mind. Adjective Annie is pretty and bright while she teaches us that our descriptive words, adjectives, also have an important part to play in our sentence compositions. All in all, children can have a wonderful journey as they read each rhyming verse, learning all the while though they may not realize it!
