Daryln Brewer Hoffstot is a freelance writer whose work has appeared in numerous publications, including the New York Times, the Boston Globe, and Pittsburgh Quarterly. Her essay in the New York Times, “On a Pennsylvania Farm, Nature Is Not Just Carrying On,” won a Notable Mention in The Best American Science and Nature Writing 2021. She has two books of nature essays, A Farm Life (2023) and This Patch of Earth (2026), both published by Stackpole Books. Daryln has lived in a farmhouse in Ligonier, Pennsylvania, for thirty-five years where she and her family have observed the natural world of field and forest.
Rita K. Haldeman has been painting since childhood. A graduate of the Pennsylvania State University with a BA in art and the Vermont Studio School and Colony for graduate studies, Rita is an award-winning artist, teacher, and lecturer. She is directory artist with the Southern Alleghanies Museum of Art. Her paintings are included in private and corporate collections throughout the United States and her work is represented in numerous galleries and museums. She lives in Jeanette, Pennsylvania.
