A cross-dressing woman who goes from poverty to wealth and from being unloved to being deeply adored is the subject of a genuinely lovely love story. Even the guardian and ward romance exists! Not to mention the plot including the retribution and the kidnapping scenes! It's jam-packed with action.
The protagonist is a cross between a Corinthian dandy, complete with perfumed handkerchief, heeled shoes, and fan, and the true devil himself, complete with glaring eyes, sharp intelligence, and a ruthless drive for vengeance. The protagonist is a Nonpareil who can use a sword, flutter her eyelashes to ensnare princes, and stun matrons with her eloquence.
