Millennium transcends boundaries - between epochs and regions, and between disciplines. Like the journal Millennium-Jahrbuch, the Millennium-Studien pursues an international, interdisciplinary approach that cuts across historical eras. The editorial and the advisory board represent a broad spectrum of disciplines.

In the Hellenistic-Roman world, communication exists within the tension between specific contexts and broader perspectives. Living environments are local in scale yet related to universal horizons. This creates problems for theoretical and empirical sciences, as well as for 'world empires' and 'world religions'. The contributions in this volume examine these issues from the perspective of various disciplines within classical studies.
