Steve Lance is Vice President, Editor in Chief, and Washington Bureau Chief of NTD. A veteran journalist, editor, and documentary filmmaker with more than two decades of experience, he has dedicated much of his career to reporting on the Chinese Communist Party, U.S.-China relations, foreign influence operations, transnational repression, national security, and human rights. Lance began his career at NTD in the early 2000s, where his investigative reporting focused on the Chinese Communist Party’s influence activities beyond China’s borders, including the role of Chinese Students and Scholars Associations (CSSAs) and their ties to Chinese embassies and consulates around the world. Over the years, he has interviewed senior government officials, members of Congress, military leaders, policy experts, and foreign dignitaries while covering some of the most consequential political and geopolitical issues facing the United States. As Executive Producer of Unbroken: The Untold Story of Shen Yun, Lance combines decades of reporting on the Chinese Communist Party with a passion for uncovering the human stories that often lie beneath global events. His work on Unbroken reflects a longstanding commitment to documenting the realities of transnational repression, religious persecution, and the resilience of those who peacefully defend freedom of belief and cultural identity. Today, Lance oversees NTD’s editorial direction and news operations while continuing to pursue investigative journalism and documentary projects that examine the forces shaping freedom, democracy, and human dignity around the world.
