Maren Thompson, a junior at West Pine High, is known for her moody Instagram photos and quiet nature. She's never had a crush, never kissed anyone, and tells herself she's fine with that-romance has always felt like a language she doesn't speak. Then Saffron Liu transfers in from Seattle: bold, funny, openly pansexual, and full of big ideas. When Saffron joins the digital arts club and gets paired with Maren for a photo project on modern relationships, everything changes. As they spend afternoons exploring town with their cameras-capturing laundromats, county fairs, and abandoned diners-Maren starts to feel something unfamiliar and confusing. Is it friendship?
