Jay Lake is an American science fiction writer, born June 6, 1964. The son of an American diplomat, he was raised in a variety of countries overseas, leaving him with an abiding interest in exotic settings and cultural complexity. One of the most prolific new writers of the decade, Lake won 2004’ s John W. Campbell Award for Best New Writer.
