On Earth a team of archaeologists find a two-thousand year old artifact that is too advanced for the any known civilisation of that time to have made. Many thousands of light years away a group of explorers make a startling discovering about their origins. Could the two be related? The days that follow begin to unravel a mystery of the origins of one race and lead to questions about the history of another.
