THE JUNGLE BOOK is a classic collection of fables by Rudyard Kipling. Among the most famous are the stories of Mowgli, a ''man-cub'' raised by wolves in the Indian jungle. On his adventure-filled journey Mogli encounters memorable characters such as the foreboding tiger Shere Kahn, Bagheera the wise panther and the happy-go-lucky Baloo who teaches Mowgli ''The Bare Necessities'' of life. Other tales in this collection include Rikki-Tikki-Tavi, about a heroic mongoose, and ''Toomai of the Elephants'', the story of a young elephant-handler.
