Strange, ghoulish, wraithlike, crystalline, vampire, fanged, tentacled, distorted weird, freakish, reptilian, morphogenic, symbiont, hydrozoan, siphonophore, spiked, horned, crownlike, polycephalous, polymerous, medusan, monster--these are examples of the images reported of aliens in the news and variously depicted on-screen, in literature, and in folklore. But aliens with the likeness of human beings, or humanoids, are noted for their characteristically nuanced or not-so-subtle nonhuman emotional expressions and behavioral tendencies. They are either good or bad and rarely ditheistic--capable of both good and bad, much less complex individuals, plagued by inner conflict--at once good and bad at the very same time.
