Fußball-Bundesliga is the 38th season of the 2. Fußball-Bundesliga,
Germany's second tier of its football league system. The season will
commence on the weekend of 16 July 2011, three weeks earlier than the
2011-12 Fußball-Bundesliga season, and will end with the last games on 6
May 2012. The traditional winter break will be held between the weekends
around 18 December 2011 and 4 February 2012. The league will comprise
the teams placed 4th to 15th of the 2010-11 season, the best two teams
from the 2010-11 3. Liga season, the last two teams from the 2010-11
Bundesliga season, the losers of the promotion play-off between
16th-placed Bundesliga team Borussia Mönchengladbach and the
third-placed 2. Bundesliga team VfL Bochum and the winners of the
relegation play-off between the 16th-placed 2. Bundesliga team VfL
Osnabruck and third-placed 3. Liga team Dynamo Dresden.
