Chris Carter has served in pastoral ministry for more than three decades and currently shepherds a congregation in Tupelo, Mississippi. Born in Hot Springs, Arkansas, and raised as the son of an evangelical minister, he grew up in a home where love for God and lived-out faith were part of ordinary life. He studied Pastoral Ministry at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and Theology and Pulpit Communication at Trinity College and Theological Seminary. Since 1999 he has served as a senior pastor in Mississippi churches, in both fully supported and bivocational roles. Alongside his pastoral work, he serves in the logistics division of a Christian, family-owned building-products manufacturer-a dual calling that lets him test these convictions where faith and culture actually collide, not in the study alone but in staff meetings, loading docks, and the ordinary moments where Christ's lordship is either real or decorative. A Three Days' Journey is the first volume of the Holy Defiance Series, published under the Going Pastoral imprint. Chris is also the author of Grace in Everyday Relationships, hosts the Holy Defiance podcast, and leads the Holy Defiance community on Skool. He and his wife, Denise, have been married since 1994; together they have raised two children, welcomed foster daughters into their family, and recently become grandparents.
