the second episode of the eighth season of the Fox animated comedy
Family Guy, and the show's 128th episode overall. The episode features
Peter Griffin when his wife Lois discovers that her mother is Jewish and
struggles with her sudden heritage. Peter embraces Lois's new religion
at first, but after a visit from his deceased father, he becomes
anti-semitic. Written by Mark Hentemann and directed by James Purdum,
the episode contained the second appearances of Rabbi Goldberg and Max
Weinstein, who had previously appeared in the show's third season
episode "When You Wish Upon a Weinstein". In its initial broadcast in
the United States and Canada on October 4, 2009, "Family Goy" was
watched by 9.66 million viewers. The critical reaction to the episode
was mixed.
