(January 22, 1925-April 28, 1996) was a Major League Baseball catcher.
Bucha made his Major League Baseball debut in 1948 with the St. Louis
Cardinals. In 1952 he was drafted by the Detroit Tigers in the Rule 5
draft. He was traded, along with Chuck Kress and Ernie Nevel to the
Brooklyn Dodgers in 1954, in exchange for Wayne Belardi.Catcher is a
position for a baseball or softball player. When a batter takes his turn
to hit, the catcher crouches behind home plate, in front of the umpire,
and receives the ball from the pitcher. This is a catcher's primary
duty, but he is also called upon to master many other skills in order to
field his position well. The role of the catcher is similar to that of
the wicket-keeper in cricket.
