A compilation of the viral scribbles written by comedian and poet Joshua Turek during the first few months of new fatherhood. An adrenaline fueled journal of love and uncertainy detailing the wonder of welcoming and caring for a new life.
After our baby was born, I started haphazardly scribbling notes in the tiny windows of time between seemingly endless tasks of love. They connected with parents, aunts, uncles and friendly spirits to children alike. I loved hearing how other parents said they started to find their own words about this disorienting experience by reading mine. At the request of many, I've bound them up in this raw, handwritten, collection in hopes they help inspire, remember and track what is a most intense initiation in caring for a newborn baby. But also if you just want to read about a months long psychedelic trip, this is that too. Already five months out, I'm grateful to have kept these notes because so much has already changed and I am too energy deprived to remember otherwise.
