"I never intended to write a massive epic; I just wanted my students to read."
My name is Wolter Martin Busscher. By day, I am a secondary school teacher, and in my free time, I am a passionate basketball fan, illustrator and - above all - a dedicated family man. My favorite moments are spent out and about, seeking new adventures with my family.
Why Hero?
In the Netherlands, my students, especially the boys, had a hard time finding books at school that they found appealing. So, in 2016, I decided to write one myself. I wrote a story I thought they would find cool, and to my surprise, they loved it.
After uploading the early draft to Wattpad and receiving a wave of positive feedback, I realized this story was bigger than I thought. Over the years, that 180-page draft grew into a 1,500-page saga. Hero - Journey to the East is the first part of that adventure (approx. 450 pages).
Influenced by the pop culture giants I love - like Star Wars, Mad Max, and Ready Player One, Back to the Future and ET - my aim is to entertain and make you feel the story. When the characters were trekking through a desert, I wanted you to feel the heat and the slow passage of time; when the action hits, I wanted your heart to race.
I hope you enjoyed the ride.
