Miguel Soto came to the United States on a permanent resident visa granted by the U.S. embassy in Managua, Nicaragua, in 1958. He came to study engineering. During his academic studies, he was drafted into the U.S. Army and, after his honorable discharge and becoming a Vietnam-era veteran, he returned to finish his university education in mid-1964. Married in 1966 and procreated three beautiful children. In 1970, he earned a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. While working, he earned a Master of Science in Systems Engineering from West Coast University in Los Angeles, California, in 1972. That same year, he began two major projects in Central America as an engineer and project manager, a role he held until 1982. Upon return to Los Angeles in 1982, he worked as a mechanical engineer but then switched careers to become a project manager, a role he has held for over 35 years. Miguel obtained his General Contractor license and founded Soto & Soto, Inc., in October 1989. He retired in 2012 and began his personal system engineering research, his passion, writing books, like Project Information Manager, Vol. I, Preconstruction, Cycles of Life, Reforms, "Dark State, Democracy's Sunset," are three of many he has authored. He's currently drafting project management courses on Udemy.com.
