medium-sized village in the Tiruvarur District of Tamil Nadu in India.
It is located 13 km from Mannargudi, 19 km from Thiruvarur, 35 km from
Kumbakonam and 45 km from Thanjavur. The nearest airport is at
Tiruchirapalli and the nearest railway station is at Koradacheri. The
port of Nagapattinam is located 45 km from the village. The income of
the village is balanced between agriculture and Overseas income.
Literacy percentage is very meagre. Apart from the above as many as many
Private Matriculations Schools namely: Indo-British Matriculation
Schools; ANA Matriculation School, Nav Bharat Matriculation Schools, OMD
School- Vazhacheri and VRN Schools in Adangudi. Further, we have Arabic
College (Al-Noorul Mohamadiu Arabic College). The Tamil Muslim culture
is followed by the people. They are very traditional and conservative in
their lifestyle. The women folk wear sarees/pathai lungi at home and
they wear burga, a Muslim-type niq¿b to cover the body, while going out.
