In seinem 1953 erschienenen Klassiker zeigt uns Ray Bradbury die Welt des Feuerwehrmanns Guy Montag. Dessen Beruf besteht aber nicht mehr daraus, Brände zu löschen. Stattdessen setzt er Bücher in Brand und vernichtet damit inzwischen unerwünschte Informationen. Guys Mitmenschen betäuben sich mit oberflächlichem Vergnügen ohne intellektuellen Mehrwert und glauben alles, was ihnen offiziell erzählt wird. Durch eine seltsame Begegnung entdeckt Guy Ungereimtheiten. Nach und nach wird im bewusst, wie seltsam und schräg seine Welt ist. Und wie wenig ein Menschenleben zu zählen scheint. Niemand ist wirklich glücklich oder auch nur lebendig.Fahrenheit 451 ist spannend erzählt und lässt uns tief in die Gefühle des Protagonisten eintauchen. Dabei stellt die Geschichte wichtige Fragen, die auch nach vielen Jahren noch relevant sind. Der Roman ist nicht umsonst ein Klassiker.
