village and civil parish in the Ryedale district of North Yorkshire,
England. It lies close to the A64 road, on the outskirts of Rillington
and approximately 3 miles east of Malton. Scampston was the birth place
of William Latimer, 4th Baron Latimer, the first member of the British
Parliament to be impeached. Ryedale is a non-metropolitan district of
the shire county of North Yorkshire in England. Settlements include
Helmsley, Kirkbymoorside, Malton, Norton-on-Derwent, Pickering, and
Terrington.
