Kosashvili (born July 3, 1970) is a Georgian-born chess International
Grandmaster and physician, who now lives in Canada. He was born in
Tbilisi, Georgia, moved to Israel as a child, and now lives in Toronto,
Canada. Kosashvili is one of the few people in the world to have earned
the titles MD and GM. He is a medical doctor, with a speciality in
orthopedic surgery. Although he never played chess professionally, he
holds the title of International Chess Grandmaster. In 1995 he was
ranked 34th in the world. On the September 2009 FIDE list his Elo rating
is 2521. In 1999 he married International Master Sofia Polgar, and they
have two children: Alon and Yoav. Dr. Kosashvili also published 13
scientifical articles, on orthopedic subjects, that are on the web. He
works in, Orthopedic Department, Arthroplasty, Mount Sinai Hospital,
Toronto, Ontario, Canada, as an orthopedic surgent.
