The Beauty of Silence

Robert Schaap is a graphic designer and a devoted collector and expert on Japanese prints and paintings and has been involved in the field for over twenty-five years. He is the co-author of several books, among them major monographs on the print artists Tsukioka Yoshitoshi, Utagawa Kuniyoshi, and Ohara Koson, and, most recently, a volume on Japanese animal paintings.

J.Thomas Rimer, Professor Emeritus of Japanese Literature and Theatre at the University of Pittsburgh, has a long-standing interest in the Japanese theatre of all periods and has served as curator for several exhibitions of modern Japanese art. In 1997 he was awarded the Order of the Sacred Treasure, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon by the Japanese government for his many contributions to the study of Japanese culture.
