Praise for Sherlock Holmes and The Lyme Regis Horror - David Ruffle has taken on the challenge of writing a short novel in the style of Dr Watson, and all in all he does pretty well. It's very easy (I speak from experience) to become stilted or florid or verbose. Mr Ruffle largely avoids the stylistic traps. Mr Ruffle paints a vivid picture of Lyme and its harbour. The characters are distinct individuals: the charming landlady, the insufferable police inspector, Watson's friend the local doctor, and all the others. And the plot is undeniably exciting! --Roger Johnson, The Sherlock Holmes Society of London
