Lincoln's Legacy of Leadership

" In this stimulating book, several of America' s and Britain' s leading Civil War historians and Lincoln biographers pool their talents to offer fresh interpretations of Abraham Lincoln' s qualities of leadership. Readers will gain new insights on the Lincoln administration and discover principles of leadership also applicable to other crises. " - James M. McPherson, Professor Emeritus of History, Princeton University

" George Goethals and Gary McDowell have collected riveting new scholarship from some of the country s best historians for what constitutes an essential and inspiring primer on American leadership. Few collections so usefully offer the lessons of the past as a guide to the challenges of the future. Both the editors and the University of Richmond s Jepson School of Leadership, which commissioned these thoughtful essays, have made an outstanding contribution to the Lincoln bicentennial. " - Harold Holzer, Co-Chairman, U. S. Lincoln Bicentennial Commission.
