The Keeper & the Mermaid

Bound by an ancient entity called "The Balance," The Keeper's existence is dedicated to maintaining the tenuous equilibrium of power in the supernatural world. His shop, The Kept, is a store house for magical items and information to be placed into the right hands at the right time in accordance with The Balance. Supernatural beings can also find their way to The Kept, for refuge or asylum. When The Keeper rescues a mermaid left for dead, he brings her back to The Kept for her protection. As Coralia heals, an impossible love grows between them.

Coralia neverr expected to fall in love with The Keeper. Their worlds could not be more different, and the longer she stays in his, the more her life force ebbs. When it's clear she can no longer ignore her past, she acknowledges she must leave, not only to survive, but to resolve the conflict that almost got her killed. Returning to the sea also means leaving The Keeper behind.
