This memoir chronicles the story of my family-a historical account shaped by personal knowledge and lived experience. It weaves together the memories and tales I absorbed while growing up on a farm near the humble town of Fabens, Texas, as well as those from my adolescent years spent in Fabens itself. The later chapters unfold during my time in Horizon City, near El Paso, Texas, where much of our family's history continued to evolve.
The narrative offers a vivid glimpse into my father's early years, tracing his life from childhood through his migration to the United States alongside my mother. Their journey began when my father enlisted in the Bracero Program, an initiative created to bring Mexican farmworkers to labor in the U. S. From there, the memoir transitions into my own story-recounting my formative years on the farm, living in an adobe and stucco home nestled beside the railroad tracks, where the rhythm of passing trains became part of the soundtrack of my youth.
