The Old Testament: Lamentations

The Book of Lamentations follows the Book of Jeremiah in the Christian Old Testament, and consists of five poems. The first poem laments for the siege and destruction of Jerusalem; the second describes the sorrow in connection with sin and God's will; the third considers better days to come; the fourth expresses sorrow towards the ruined city and temple, but traces it back to sin; and the fifth is a prayer with four lessons for overcoming sin, melancholy, and loss. . .
