Suspense, love story and emotional breakdown? Here we go! Worth everything and more!
Each book gets better than the previous and I cannot and will not stop reading them.
In Drifting Dawn we follow Taran's and Quinn's love story in first person. Each one let us see behind the dust of their connected past and how they're feeling now. This double POV helped me to be more involved and invested in Quinns and Tarans love story.
The feelings were there right under my skin. I felt so much during this pages. I cannot lie, there had been a lot of cries and sobbing, but I'm in it with all my heart and soul and emotions.
Quinn and Taran had been childhood/teenage sweethearts that never spoke clearly about their relationship ending. Eventually all this time apart is only from not communicating with each other. To see how they struggled all that time apart while still holding on to each other crashed my heart but it makes it even sweeter to see them now trying to fix things out.
This book clearly contains some themes that could be difficult to handle, so to the ones who already read the first book in the series, you know what I mean, there had been something with Tarans mom, which I'm not going to dug in deeper, but it is sensitive. I felt it was handled and described well. I was there with all my heart and definitely imagined how I would react with all of that. And it crushed my heart. I am emotional to that, but still grateful it is described in a book. There's so much more into this book and so many lines I underlined to just remember. Things that we used to see as given, but if we realized further, they're simply not. It is an eye opener for me and therefore I will ever be grateful.
Going back to "just" Quinns and Tarans relationship I have to say that they do have their ups and downs, fears and hopes but there's still a lot of history to be unwrapped by them at the beginning of their story.
I loved to see them evolve individually and getting to understand their fears and blocks and how they managed to overcome them. Both, Quinn and Taran, are reliable characters that I could always relate to. Their actions were always easy to follow with the knowledge of their feelings and fears. That's why I'm totally in sync with them.
Then there had been their evolution together as friends to lovers to a couple to haters to friends to lovers to a couple. This had been a long way but a necessarily one I could fully relate.
I love the ongoing message of this book: Never take anything for granted.
But this book is more than that as we get suspense in it. There's more happening around Taran and Quinn on this little Island and it is highly risky, and I loved to put my suspicions on paper.
In the end just let me say it's well written, I was flying through the pages. The writing is interesting and goes with the flow. As a non native English reader I felt it easy to follow the story.
Conclusion:
Loved this story with all this bubbling emotions coming out of me. I truly feel like each book in the series gets better and more addictive. Can't wait for the next in line.
