Count Zero is an exceptionally well written book with vivid characters and fantastic world building. I truly recommend to not stop after Neuromancer and continue with this absolute masterpiece.
Every little detail in the story has meaning and will get picked up again and the book really invites to speculate and make up weird conspiracy theories about where it goes next. Do it, you might as well be right.
The stories of the three main characters are interwoven so effortlessly, it makes putting down the book impossible. Once or twice there is a bit of plot armor but Im willing to forgive Gibson because Im return I get to enjoy this story.
My only caveat, not with the story but this specific edition, is that especially in the beginning there are some editing mistakes you simply cannot overlook because of how frequent they are (spelling mistakes, capitalization errors, forgotten punctuation etc.). Please dont let this stand in your way of reading this book because it truly is one of the best sci-fi adventures I ever had the pleasure to follow.
What I especially loved is Gibsons prose in general. He has a way with words I cannot describe but youll know what I mean. Even though the book is written with a limited third person narrator, he gives each of the main characters their own unique inner voice and in the beginning of each chapter, youll automatically understand whos perspective youre reading from.
Lastly I want to praise his ability to put you into the head of his characters. His specialty there are subtle changes in emotions which you immediately register without quite being able to you finger onto. This builds up tension and suspense so well, you wont be able to put the book down.
All in all, I would absolutely recommend it, please go and read Count Zero, you wont regret it.
