Mark Mylan was seventeen when the Empire forcibly dragged him off-world and forced him to join their army. After escaping, he becomes a wanted fugitive with the Numen - an ancient power wielded by warriors the Empire has been hunting to extinction.

Mark finds Tom, one of the last surviving Sentari, who trains him to control the Numen. Together with Jane and Jack, his childhood friends, and Aloyla, a princess on the run, they form a rebel crew fighting impossible odds.

Their mission is to strike back at the Empire. But that means surviving space battles, fighting imperial fleets, infiltrating enemy bases, finding lost Sentari temples, and facing the Lord of the Vakryn - the Empire's emperor.
