Penguin Readers Level 6: One Of Us Is Lying

Easy read. Great work on the characters. I was constantly trying to help solving the case. Would definitely recommend it. I really liked reading this one. For me, as a non native speaker, it was so easy to read and to understand. I'm always worrying that my English might not be good enough and that I'll have to look up every single word. But no. The way Karen M. McManus wrote this book makes it easy to follow and I always wanted to continue reading.It's written from the perspective of all four suspects in turn and still sectioned in chapters. I like how you get to know the characters. Although those are like the stereotypical kinds of characters (geek, jock, criminal, princess) Karen M. McManus managed not to exaggerate. When e.g. Addy's perspective came up, I almost expected it to be all about make up, fashion and (sorry for the cliché) just a dull blonde. But she surprised me and I really liked the character.In general, McManus did a really good job on those characters. I like how she presented them and their interactions with each other as well as with other people.I found myself constantly thinking about who might have killed Simon. It's always great when a book makes you kind of work with the protagonists, trying to solve the case.I would absolutely recommend this book.
